The Most Common Orthodontics

Metal braces are the most common orthodontic treatment and are suitable for both children and adults. They are typically fitted for between 12 and 24 months, designed to straighten teeth, correct overbites and minimise gaps between teeth. For fitting, the orthodontist will first take a mould of the teeth and will identify whether any extractions are needed before the braces are fitted. After this, the brackets will be fitted and connected by a thin metal wire, which will need to be periodically tightened and checked as the treatment progresses.
